International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

国际禁毒日（6月26日）

今天是国际反毒品日(6月26日)，又叫禁止药物滥用和非法贩运国际日（International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking）。我们都要“爱生活，不吸毒”。

against表示“反对…，与…作斗争”；drug abuse意思是“药物滥用”；illicit 意为“非法的，违法的”；traffic意思是“n. 交通，运输；v. 交易，买卖”。

今天我梳理和归纳了涉及drug(毒品；药品)的内容，赶紧一起来学习一下吧：

1. What are drugs? 什么是毒品？

我国《刑法》第357条规定，毒品是指鸦片opium、海洛因(俗称”白粉”) heroin、甲基苯丙胺(冰毒)ice、吗啡morphine、可卡因cocaine、大麻以及国家规定管制的其他能够使人形成瘾癖的麻醉药品和精神药品（other deadly addictive and psychoactive drugs）。

2. “吸毒”的英语是take drugs.

take表示“吃，服”，同样用法有take medicine 吃药, take meals 用餐，

be addicted to drugs 吸毒成瘾；

吸毒的人drug takers；

瘾君子，吸毒的人drug addicts

兴奋剂 stimulant

3. 吸毒的原因（reasons for taking drugs）

1）好奇心（curiosity）：因为新鲜好奇，想试一试而沾上了吸毒行为；

2）寻找刺激（stimulation）：

Drugs are treated as smoking and drinking to meet the needs of recreation and pleasure.把吸食毒品当作吸烟、喝酒一样，满足消遣和享乐的需要；

3）从众（conformity）：所谓从众，就是人家怎么干，自己就跟着人家怎么干(英语中有个术叫peer pressure，指同龄人、同学、同事、同行给你施加的压力，例如大家都喜欢啥啥啥，而你要是不喜欢，那就是不合群，这样你就会感到有压力。)。跟着友人、爱人或家人“沉沦”。

4. 吸毒的危害（harms of drug abuse）

The mecical use of drugs: Some drugs are approved for the treatment of certain diseases, because they can increase alertness, concentration, energy, and in high doses, enhance self-esteem and increase libido.

药物用于治疗疾病：一些药物被批准用于治疗某些疾病，因为它们能提高大脑的注意力，使人精力充沛，而且在大剂量服用的情况下，提升自尊心和性欲。

drug abuse: However, research has found that long-term drug use, repeated use, chronic abuse, or acute overdose, heavy use may lead to physical addiction or dependence.

药物滥用：然而，研究发现，长期反复使用或突然加大剂量会致使身体上瘾或产生依赖性。

6月26日是国际禁毒日，它提醒人们要热爱生活，拒绝吸毒。有些年轻人对毒品很好奇，他们认为自己可以控制好自己，所以他们试图尝试，最终却毁了自己的生活。有很多这样的例子，都是关于人们认为自己可以在接触过毒品后还能脱离毒品，然而却是没有人可以逃离噩梦，他们都迷失了自己。

Everyone must realize the danger of taking drugs, never try to be curious about it. The way to amuse ourselves are various, such as traveling around the world or reading more books. When we are equipped with knowledge, we won't feel empty. We can find a colorful world by gaining knowledge. 
每个人都必须意识到吸毒的危险，千万不要对此感到好奇而以身涉险。娱乐的方式有各种各样的，比如周游世界或阅读更多的书籍。当我们拥有更多知识的时候，就不会感到空虚，我们可以通过获取知识来寻找一个丰富多彩的世界。
